Privacy Policy

Daily Brief ("the dashboard," "we," "us") is a personal productivity tool. This policy explains what information we collect, how it's used, and how it's protected.

Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your actual password).
Profile details you provide: a short bio and topic preferences, used to personalize your daily brief.
Content you create in the app: your "What's Cooking" cards, saved/bookmarked briefs, and scratchpad notes.
Google Calendar data (only if you connect it): event titles, times, and details needed to display your calendar in the dashboard and, if you use the Add Event feature, to create events on your behalf.

How we use your information

To generate your personalized daily brief using the Anthropic API (Claude).
To display your Google Calendar events, if connected.
To send you account-related emails (password resets, welcome messages) via Amazon SES.
To operate core features like saved cards, bookmarks, and your scratchpad.

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Google user data

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only request the calendar access needed to show your events and create new ones at your request. We do not use Google user data for any advertising purpose, and we do not allow humans to read this data except as needed for security, legal compliance, or with your consent to fix a support issue.

You can revoke the dashboard's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page, or by disconnecting it in Settings within the app.

Sharing of Google user data

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data (including calendar events or any other data accessed via Google APIs) with any third party for their own purposes, and we never use it for advertising. Google user data is transmitted only to the following parties, and only as strictly necessary to operate the features described above:

Google — to read and create calendar events on your behalf, via the Google Calendar API.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our hosting provider, which stores your Google access token and any cached calendar data securely on our behalf. AWS does not access or use this data independently.

We do not transfer Google user data to any AI model, analytics tool, advertiser, or data broker. Human access to Google user data is limited to what is strictly necessary for security, legal compliance, or troubleshooting a support issue you've raised, and never for any other purpose.

How we protect your data

We apply the following safeguards to protect your information, including any sensitive data such as your Google Calendar access token:

Encryption in transit: all traffic between your browser and our servers, and between our servers and Google's APIs, is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Password security: account passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored or logged in plain text.
Access control: your Google access token is stored server-side, tied to your individual account, and is never exposed to your browser or to other users. Server access is restricted to the account owner.
Minimal scope: we request only the Google Calendar scopes needed to display and create events — never broader account access.
Revocation: disconnecting your calendar in Settings immediately deletes your stored Google access token from our systems.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on servers we operate on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the United States. Access is restricted to the account owner.

Third parties we use

Anthropic (Claude API) — to generate brief content and power in-app chat.
Google Calendar API — only if you choose to connect your calendar.
Amazon SES — to deliver transactional emails.

Your choices

You can disconnect your Google Calendar at any time in Settings. To request that your account and associated data be deleted entirely, contact us at the email below.

Access

This is currently an invite-only tool; accounts are created by invitation and are not open to public signup.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
